Removable Full and Partial Dentures

A denture is a removable prosthesis that is used for the replacement of missing teeth and surrounding tissues. There are two types of dentures: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, and a partial denture is used when some natural teeth are still present.

A removable partial denture consists of replacement teeth attached to a base of acrylic, plastic or metal. These are generally secured into place by “holding on” to a person’s natural teeth.  Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.
